Nova Scotia angling art, products, & services
Want
something truly unique for yourself or your favorite angler? River Magic can help.
You’ll find unique products, art and gifts for anglers and collectors made right here in Nova Scotia.
For example, River Magic is the home of Nova Scotia’s official fly, the Nova Scotia Classic.
You’ll find classic Atlantic salmon flies inspired by the work of British fly tyers of Victorian
times and the materials used in their dressings. You'll find authentic Nova Scotia salmon & trout flies tied by master
tyers in Nova Scotia. And we’re located on Nova Scotia’s St. Mary’s River, a world-renowned Atlantic salmon
stream!
Our success is based upon customer satisfaction, so we
ensure that you, the customer, are happy. If you aren’t totally satisfied, return your purchase for a full refund. No
risk! We know that satisfied customers come back & tell others.
Hope
to hear from you in 2009!

What’s unique about River Magic? Here’s a partial list!
· We
are authorized dealers for top quality Lamson reels and St. Croix rods, both lifetime warranted,
and we sell at CABELA’s USA pricing. In addition, if our customers experience problems with our rods
or reels we exchange them immediately upon payment of the $20 manufacturer’s shipping charge.
·
We have exclusive production, marketing
& sales rights to all products based upon the Nova Scotia Classic, our province’s official fishing fly, designed
and tied by River Magic’s Bill Carpan. When you purchase this fly, you are helping the Nova Scotia Federation of Anglers
and Hunters with their conservation work in Nova Scotia.
· Our
unique angling art pieces can give you many years of pleasure. For example, River Magic’s Bill Carpan and world-renowned
photographer Gilbert van Ryckevorsel collaborate to combine underwater images from Nova Scotia’s St. Mary’s River
with fishing flies in a single frame, signed by both artists. These works give a fascinating perspective on angling tradition
that you’ll find nowhere else, and they quickly become treasured family heirlooms that you’ll be proud to display
in your home or office.
· No
imports! You’ll find only authentic flies tied in Nova Scotia for fishing in Atlantic Canada. We stock quality flies
tied locally by masters Jim McCoul, Mike Bingley, Bill Carpan, Lowell Kaiser, Reid Mason, Bill Williams, Damian Welsh
and Parker Wong.
· If you plan to
fish Nova Scotia’s St. Mary’s River, a premier Atlantic salmon fishing destination for more than a century, River
Magic, being the only fly shop on the river, can help you. Most of our products are based upon our rich angling tradition,
and we are a knowledgeable source of local fishing and guiding information.
· Some
services we offer:
o Rod-building/repair.
o Custom fly tying.
o A fully
equipped desk for visiting fly tyers
o Free Saturday
afternoon fly tying workshops, often featuring guest fly tyers.
o Our free
website, rivermagic.ca, provides daily rainfall and fishing reports
for the St. Mary’s watershed area, weekly newspaper fishing columns by Stillwater Slim,
and free salmon pool maps of the St. Mary’s River and other streams in Atlantic Canada (printable PDF file).
· If
you admire classic British salmon exhibition flies from Victorian times, you can get them from us. We are the only fly shop
in Nova Scotia that provides these, and we also offer classic fly tying workshops and the hard-to-find traditional materials
used to tie classics (sorry, but we can’t sell these materials outside Canada).
· We
offer custom designed handmade shooting head fly line systems.
· You’ll
find our own unique gifts based on Nova Scotia’s angling tradition – signed, gift packaged, and guaranteed to
be enjoyed by the angler or collector in your life.
· You’ll
find excellent angling books by Nova Scotia authors, many signed by the authors!
· If
you want to purchase 17 hooks from a box of 100, we’ll do it. Try that at Wal-Mart!
· Species available locally include Atlantic salmon, speckled & brown
trout (including the larger sea-run varieties) & and big striped bass in the surf. Call or email for information re open
season dates and conditions.
